भारत और दक्षिण अफ्रीका के बीच तीन मैचों की टी20 सीरीज का पहला मुकाबला आज तिरुवनंतपुरम के ग्रीनफील्ड इंटरनेशनल क्रिकेट स्टेडियम में खेला गया। इस मुकाबले में भारत ने दक्षिण अफ्रीका को 8 विकेट से रौंद दिया है। इस जीत के साथ ही भारत ने तीन मैचों की टी20 सीरीज में 1-0 की लीड ले ली है। मेजबान टीम के लिए केएल राहुल ने नाबाद 51 और सूर्यकुमार यादव ने नाबाद 50 रन बनाए। 

दक्षिण अफ्रीका की टीम अर्शदीप सिंह के तीन विकेट और दीपक चाहर की घातक गेंदबाजी के आगे ताश के पत्तों की तरह ढह गई। पहले बल्लेबाजी करते हुए दक्षिण अफ्रीका ने 20 ओवर में 8 विकेट खोकर 106 रन बनाए। भारत की ओर से अर्शदीप ने 4 ओवर में 32 रन देकर तीन विकेट झटके। दक्षिण अफ्रीका के लिए केशव महाराज ने सर्वाधिक  41 रन बनाए।

पहले बल्लेबाजी करने उतरी दक्षिण अफ्रीका की टीम को पहले ही ओवर में दीपक चाहर ने झटका दिया। चाहर ने कप्तान तेंबा बावुमा को पहले ओवर की आखिरी गेंद पर क्लीन बोल्ड किया। बावुमा खाता नहीं खोल सके। दूसरे ओवर में अर्शदीप सिंह ने तीन विकेट लेकर अफ्रीका की कमर ही तोड़ दी। उन्होंने दूसरी गेंद पर डिकॉक, राइली रुसो और इस ओवर की आखिरी गेंद पर मिलर को बोल्ड करके भारत को चौथी सफलता दिलाई। रुसो और मिलर खाता भी नहीं खोल सके। दीपक चाहर ने अगले ओवर में ट्रिस्टन स्टब्स को भी खाता नहीं खोलने दिया और कैच आउट करवाया।
